When Selena first landed on the music scene, we knew we’d seen that adorable, sweet, cute face somewhere before. That’s right leaders and celebrities, Selena Gomez starred in Barney and Friends in the early 2000s.

Selena’s mother is the one who inspired her to become an actress after watching her mother prepare for awesome stage performances. Before rising to fame on Disney Channel, Gomez actually had a reoccurring role on the Disney series Hannah Montana. Selena joined Miley and played the role of Hannah’s music rival, Mikayla. Before Gomez dated Justin Bieber, Selena hooked up with Miley Cyrus’ ex, Nick Jonas. The two sunshine stars dated briefly in 2008 before being romantically connected to Twilight star, Taylor Launter.

Call Selena strangely wonderful! If you’re wondering what Gomez loves to eat, well, apparently the star likes to eat lemons whole. Selena also drinks olive oil as it’s said to protect her voice to live in now. Other than launching the ever-popular cosmetics line, Selena has also had a clothing line named “Dream Out Loud”, which launched in 2010. Extra fun fact? The clothing line featured textures made from recycled and eco-friendly material. Gomez also has her own production company named July Moonhead Productions, self-titled perfume, and a handbag line. What does Gomez do in her spare time? Other than looking super glam and hanging out with buds, the starlet is actually an avid surfboarder and skateboarder.

In 2009, when Selena was just 17 years old, she became the youngest UNICEF Ambassador in the organization’s history. She had a kidney transplant in the 2017 summer due to suffering from Lupus Disease. In a surprise post, the pop star revealed that her best pal Francia Raisa was the one to donate her body part, calling it the “ultimate gift”.

While Gomez has been bravely open about gaining weight over the years. The star was supposed to deal with several body shamers online when they’d observed she put on weight. In an interview, Gomez revealed that the medication she was taking for Lupus was really affecting her weight.

Her parents divorced when she was just five years old, and she remained with her mom. Gomez’s mother and her second hubby, Brian Teefey, had a daughter, Gracie Elliot Teefey, born in 2013.Through her father and his second wife, Sara, she had a half-sister, Victoria “Tori” Gomez, and a step-brother naming Marcus. For most of Gomez childhood, she was homeschooled, saving for a brief period when she attended a traditional school as the young girl. She had earned her high-school diploma through homeschooling in May 2010.

Gomez has said, “I was depressive that my parents were not together, and never saw the light at the end of the tunnel where my mother was working hard to provide a good life for me. I am terrified of what I would have become if I had stayed [in Texas]. She later added that her mom was really strong around me. Having me at 16 had to have been a huge responsibility. She had given up everything for me, had 3 jobs, supported me, sacrificed her life for me. She had a close relationship with her grandparents as a kid and appeared in different pageants. Gomez grandparents often took care of her while her parents had finished their schooling, and she has said they “raised her” until she found career in show business.

In 2012, Selena launched her first fragrance called “Selena”. Selena describes it as yummy and romantic. Although Selena was offered a role in High School Musical 3, she turned it down as she wanted to pursue more sincere roles. Motivational blogs lead to health aware as she is, Selena likes burgers and indulged in McDonald’s stuff before her Victoria’s Secret fashion show.
In order to prepare for her role in the movie, Monte Carlo, Selena understands how to play polo, and took a few weeks of training to absorb two different British accents.
