Chainsmoker

The Chainsmokers are a production duo and an American electronic DJ consist of Andrew “Drew” Taggart and Alexander “Alex” Pall. They began out by releasing remixes of songs by indie artists.

The duo had a top twenty single in several nations with their 2014 song “#Selfie”, reaching number sixteen on U.S. Billboard Hot 100, number eleven in the United Kingdom and number three in Australia. In October 2015, they released their debut EP, Bouquet. Their following single “Roses” reached the top 10 on Billboard, whereas “Don’t Let Me Down” became their first top 5 single. “Closer”, which features vocals from Halsey, became their first number-one single on the chart. Alexander “Alex” Pall is born on May 1985. He is of French descent. His father is an art dealer and his mother is a housewife. Andrew “Drew” Taggart was born in December 1989. He was raised in Freeport, Maine and is of Scottish descent. His father sold prosthetics and his mother is a teacher. At the age of 15, he was turned onto to EDM while abroad in Argentina, where he was introduced to the music of Trentemøller, David Guetta, and Daft Punk. The Chainsmokers were initially made up of former DJ Rhett Bixler and Pall. Under the management of Adam Alpert in New York City, The Chainsmokers were formed as an EDM DJ duo in 2012. Pall was introduced to Taggart by Alpert and had been working at an art gallery in Chelsea, Manhattan at the time.  Pall attended New York University for music business and art history.

Taggart had been attending Syracuse University. He had taken an interest in DJing and released a few original songs on the website SoundCloud.  In 2012, they collaborated with Indian actress Priyanka Chopra and a recording artist on the single “Erase” which was followed up by “The Rookie” in early 2013. On August 2014, The Chainsmokers had released Kanye featuring sirenXX, the follow-up to #Selfie. Seven months later, they released “Let You Go”, which features the American synthpop group, Great Good Fine Ok. They has signed with Disruptor Records, a joint venture label along with Sony Music Entertainment by their manager Adam Alpert, in April 2015.

The Chainsmokers released their first EP titled Bouquet, which features New York City, Waterbed, Until You Were Gone Roses and Good Intentions. The Chainsmokers’ single “Don’t Let Me Down”, which was released on February 2016, features the singer Daya. Two months later, they released the single, “Inside Out”, which features the Swedish singer Charlee. On March 19, 2016, the group played at Ultra Music Festival where they honestly denounced presidential candidate Donald Trump. On July 29, 2016, they released “Closer” which features singer Halsey, and peaked at number one in the United Kingdom and the United States, in addition to charts in eleven other nations.

The performance was met with mostly false reception. Multiple publications including The New York Times, Rolling Stone and Us Weekly mention to the performance as the worst of the night.

Something Just Like This was an song by USA electronic music duo the Coldplay British rock band and Chainsmokers. It is releasing on February 22, 2017, as the second single from the former’s debut album, Memories…Do Not Open, and as a lead single of the latter’s thirteenth extended play, Kaleidoscope EP.

In September 2016, the Chainsmokers shared 3 short clips of an upcoming song featuring vocals from Chris Martin, Coldplay’s lead singer. On February 22, 2017, Spotify was prematurely posted a banner ad at the top of the site’s home page with the Listen Now button.
