It is an Irish boy band set up in Sligo in 1998. The group presently consists of members Mark Feehily, Shane Filan, Nicky Byrne, and Kian Egan; one of its actual members, Brian McFadden, departed the band in 2004. The group scattered in 2012 and later reunited in 2018.

In March 2011, they had begin their eleventh major concert tour, the Gravity Tour. This tour marked the foremost time the group traveled to Oman, Namibia, Guangzhou, and Vietnam for the concerts. As of 2011, the group was the long-reigning band and second-longest-reigning number-one music act in the 21st century in the UK. On 14 March 2011, Westlife had confirmed that they left Cowell after 13 years and his record label Syco Music after ten years.
On 28 February 2024, Feehily announcing his temporary departure from Westlife due to ongoing health problems, just days before the beginning of their American tour, leaving Filan, Byrne, and Egan to continue the tour as a trio. On 12 April 2024, Westlife announced the fifteenth concert tour, With Love Tour which was twelve Asian dates from 24 May 2024 to 23 November 2024. This also marked their first footing in Chongqing and Foshan in China, Incheon, Genting, Malaysia,and Korea.
Not content with selling millions of records, performing to crowds all around the planet and having its own chocolate bar, Westlife has announced its own fragrance range. Like any famous personality worth their salt in the 00s, Westlife came out with two fragrance perfumes called “With Love” and the simply named “Westlife”.
Early in their career, Westlife actually performed as the support act for the Backstreet Boys when BSB was in Dublin. The band still holds the record for the most consecutive UK number 1 singles- 7 of their first 7 singles went to the top of the chart. The element of 7 number 1s was ended in 2000 when Westlife’s ‘What Makes a Man’ was beaten to the Christmas number 1 spot by the Bob the Builder theme song. Westlife has performed with stars such as Diana Ross, Mariah Carey, and Lionel Richie. They have also performed for Pope John Paul II and President Obama. I think it’s because they have wonderfully pen-up songs, that everyone still enjoys listening to. They have classic songs. Also, it probably is because most songs coming out these days are garbage as compared to such.
Like most other boy bands, Westlife band was primarily marketed to teenagers, besides girls, there were approximately 25% of Westlife fans are guys. The band had a large following among gay men and performed many times at gay venues in the UK.
